FINALLY some sewing updates

First off, saw Deadpool 2 Friday night, it was funny, really enjoyed it.

Saturday and Sunday were allllllllllllllll packing and moving stuff to the storage unit. Saturday in particular was up early and nonstop all day. (Sunday we had to take a break for a retirement party in the afternoon.) I am still sore. And our giant storage unit is almost full and we haven’t even moved the bulk of the furniture :\

YIKES!
Old Creepy Guy is standing guard in the front.

We did get the attic cleaned out which was an accomplishment. Including getting the super heavy box of my great-aunt’s china down. I’ve decided that in our next house, we’re just going to use it. It’s not going to sit in a box unseen for years again. I think it’s better to use it and love it and maybe run the risk of something breaking at some point rather than have it collecting dust.

So here’s where we are at, room by room:
1. Guest/Prop Room: Totally done except a few random things on the bed. I have my current costumes that are staying with me stored in the closet. Leaving the bed and nightstand in there for now for staging.
2. Hall bath – mostly cleaned out. The bulk of what is left is my own makeup/hair/medicine/costume stuff that needs to stay with me. I’m going to put most of that in a bin to get moved to my aunt’s.
3. Chase’s office – mostly done. Still has the shelves up, the desk, a chair and a table. Closet is cleaned out, just has his equipment he needs to keep out.
4. Bedroom – Our 2 dressers have the clothes we are keeping out in them. Leaving them for staging for now. The cubby organizer is cleaned out, only has stuff we’re keeping in it, but I want to transfer all that stuff out and get that moved into storage. There’s still a few things under the bed I can’t reach (need Chase to hold up the mattress) that I need to pack, and the trunk at the end of the bed needs moved into storage.
5. Master Bath – mostly done.
6. My sewing room – I finished packing it up last night. All of my furniture is empty and ready to be moved out. I have everything that’s moving with me put into bins and ready to go. I still have a few things on the walls that I need help getting down, either because they’re too high up for me, or I need a screwdriver to take them down.
7. Kitchen – cleaned out the pantry last night. Tonight will clean off the baker’s rack so we can move it out. Then I need to start packing the cabinets, haven’t done anything else in here yet.
8. Living Room – mostly cleaned out. Still a lot of random stuff sitting around that either needs to go to storage, or a decision needs to be made, or they just need to be packed. Some art that needs to come down too.
9. Garage – this is the biggest one. Worked on it for a bit Sunday. Got the bins organized. Threw a lot of stuff away. Now have to go thru the shelves and storage stuff on the side walls. A lot of it is getting thrown away (paint, molds, etc). It’s just so hot it’s been hard to work out there.
10. Entryway – Hall closet is done. Need to pack up the laundry room, but there’s not a lot in there so we can knock that out in one night.

I think this afternoon I’m going to start in the prop room, and just work my way through the house. Get everything that is sitting out organized into piles. Then dive into packing the kitchen.
We are really hoping to be DONE this weekend and able to list it.

While cleaning out the attic I found my old Han standee.

He was all warped and bent out of shape and the stand on the back had come unglued. So I made the decision to throw him away.

Set him up right in the storage unit’s trash compactor.

Came back later to throw more stuff away and somebody had smushed him with a bag. I hope he gave them a fright when they opened the door and that’s why they smushed him. LOL.

OK so beyond all that I did actually make a tiny bit of progress on Crait Leia. As I mentioned in my last post, I discovered I didn’t have enough fabric.

Saturday night, Chase moved the coffee table and helped me get the fabric set all the way out. Then we started placing my 4 pattern pieces trying to figure out how to make it work.
We finally got it by taking some of the width out of the sleeve and one of the front panels, and I had to compromise on having a seam down the center back of the back panel. But that’s better than buying new fabric.

Pile of cut fabric! Discovered this fabric is one of those that picks up EVERY SINGLE PIECE OF THREAD AND FUZZ IN ITS VICINITY. Which is just so much fun.

Last night I got the panels all pinned together.

YAY It actually looks like a THING!

I forgot I need lining for the back panel. So I’ll get that this weekend… or I could just use the black satin I got for Amidala and just buy new for Amidala. I do have my interfacing for the front panels so I’ll play with that tonight.

No new art today, had to stop and work on a commission for a bit. Back at it this week – I have the line work for Black Invasion done!
